Upledger CranioSacral Therapy
| A gentle and non invasive,
manipulative technique to re-establish proper function, primarily between
the cranium and sacrum. Identified by Dr Sutherland, who developed Cranial
Osteopathy, then investigated further by Dr Upledger in the 1970s along with
Michigan State University. |

Like the pulse of the cardio
vascular system, the cranio sacral system has a rhythm that can be felt
throughout the body. Using touch no heavier than a 20p, skilled
practitioners can monitor this rhythm at key body points to identify
possible restrictions or stress. The can then assist the natural movement
of the fluid and related soft tissue, used alongside other complementary
therapies, to help restore the body's optimum balance. |
| Because it acts on the deepest
structures and organs of the nervous system, Cranio Sacral Therapy
influences motor, pain and co-ordination mechanisms, the digestive system,
respiratory system, heart function and the endocrine system. Neil and
Sandra have completed CST I as part of their training with the Upledger
Institute. Upledger trained practitioners use it in conjunction with other
subtle evaluative techniques to locate and identify spinal cord dysfunctions
and restrictions of the important membranes that sub-divide and support the
brain. It can be used to pinpoint and frequently help areas of active tissue
change anywhere in the body. |
